Specialist Programs
At Millwarra Primary School, our Specialist Programs provide students with rich, engaging, and hands-on learning experiences that foster creativity, critical thinking, and a love of learning. Led by passionate specialist teachers, these programs encourage students to explore new skills, collaborate with their peers, and discover their unique talents.
Physical Education
Our Physical Education (PE) program promotes active, healthy lifestyles by developing fundamental movement skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Through a diverse range of sports, fitness activities, and games, students build coordination, resilience, and confidence. We encourage participation, personal growth, and the joy of movement, with opportunities to represent the school in interschool sports, carnivals, and competitions.
Art
Creativity takes centre stage in our Art program. Students explore painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, textiles and digital art, developing their ability to express ideas and emotions through artistic mediums. Our program introduces students to a variety of artistic styles and cultural influences, nurturing curiosity, imagination, and individual creativity.
Auslan
In our Auslan sessions, we are working on communicating and understanding more about how one of the languages of the Deaf community in Australia.
Students learn to put the signs they have learnt into practice, for example signing important information about themselves – their favourite food, to translating short phrases about school routines – can I get a drink please
Science
Our Science program challenges students to think critically, solve problems, and innovate. Students learn about biological, chemical and physical sciences’ as well as earth and space, with different focuses for each topic depending on the year level. We encourage students to ask questions and think about the world around them as they conduct experiments and explore their topics through a range of thought-provoking activities.
Wellbeing
We are fortunate enough to have 1 hour weekly wellbeing lessons which explicitly teach content and strategies outlined in the Respectful Relationships Curriculum, as well as the Berry Street Education model. Students explore a range of topics including friendships, positive coping strategies, stress management, being part of a community, and many more.
